Prison Ministries

Lighthouse Features - Care

Good News Jail & Prison Ministry provides spiritually mature, equipped, and motivated men and women to serve as Christian chaplains in correctional facilities nationally and internationally.  Become a Good News Volunteer. You may have time available to teach a Bible Study, or to help the Chaplain with office work, distribute Bibles, or assist in the worship services. Contact P.G. County Chaplain Jim Penn at 301-952-7090 or email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information. Local churches that associate with this ministry include: Cornerstone Church and Trinity Community Church.

Prison Fellowship partners with churches to reach out to prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families both as an act of service to Jesus Christ and as a contribution to restoring peace to our cities and communities endangered by crime.  Prison Fellowship’s logo is representative of Isaiah 42:3: “A bruised reed he will not break...” The symbol reminds us that while society may cast aside those people it deems useless and unworthy, God continues to pursue them with His steadfast love, offering forgiveness and restoration.
