Our Biblical Charge

1) Pray  (Prayer)

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

2) Love  (Care)

“Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Mark 12:31

3) Make Disciples  (Share)

"Go and make disciples of all nations."

Matthew 28:19

“You are the light of the world … let your light shine before people, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

Matthew 5:14-16

This community is based on the person and work of Jesus Christ.  Turn ON the Light-Bowie is about enlarging and equipping the Christian community in Bowie, Maryland.

Our Organization:  Turn ON The LIGHT-Bowie is an affiliate member of Light of the World Foundation which is a non-profit tax exempt 501(C)(3) corporation that complies with state and federal tax-exempt laws and codes. Financial records are open for review upon request. Click on our Leadership link to view how the various duties and responsibilities are divided and the opportunities for you to serve.

Our Purpose:  Our purpose is God's purpose in creation, to love God, love our neighbors, and to reproduce by making disciples of Jesus Christ.

Our Vision:  With God’s help, transform the whole Bowie community into a renewing Spirit of caring for each other’s needs, loving one another, and loving God . . . changing one home, one neighborhood, one church, one school, and one business at a time.

Our Goal: Our goal is to have enough Lighthouses to Pray-For and Care-For every person in the Bowie target area. There are approximately 60,000 people who live, school, and work in the Bowie, Mitchellville, and Woodmore target areas.

If each Lighthouse prays for and cares for an average of 10 households, using an average of three people per household, this equates to approximately 2,000 people or families who need to heed God's call and become Lighthouses.
