Apologetics Means Never Having to Say You're Sorry

Resources - Articles

Older folks like me will remember the 1970 movie Love Story and Andy Williams singing, "Where do I begin... to tell the story."  Remeber the idealistic and dying Jennifer telling Oliver, "Love means never having to say you're sorry?" Well, some people get the term apologetics confused with apologizing. What is apologetics then? Where do I begin...?

"Apologetics attempts to render the Christian faith persuasive to the contemporary individual. For unbelievers: it is belief forming. It helps to establish Christianity as credible by giving intellectual support to the explanatory value of a biblical world view. For believers: it is belief sustaining. It nurtures Christian faith by calling believers to love the Lord with their minds (Matt 22:37)."[1]

HESED

Resources - Articles

After being told to stay in the safety of the yard by their parents, a brother and sister curiously wander into the street and are immediately struck by a car.  In the hospital, the now unconscious children are cared for by doctors and nurses scrambling to repair and stabilize the little broken bodies.  Grief stricken and fearful parents linger in the waiting room, struggling to believe - struggling to hope that they would see their children alive again.  Their concern is natural.  They are linked by a bond of love and loyalty to their children that exceeds the strength of any glue found on the planet.

I'm Gonna Let It Shine

Resources - Articles

A few years ago, I read a book called “I’m Gonna Let It Shine” by Dr. James Montgomery  the founder of Dawn Ministries, a world-wide church planting organization.  The book has chapter headings like … Hide it under a bushel. No! … and … Don’t let Satan snuff it out … bringing back memories of the song I used to sing as a kid in church, “This little light of mine, I’m Gonna Let It Shine.”  It’s an excellent book, an easy read, and it has a convicting message.  I have several extra copies I can give anyone who wants to read it.  I highly recommend it.

For me, one of the most memorable sentences in the book was this statement by Dr. Montgomery … “When it comes to revival, we are often waiting for God to show up and do the miraculous while God is waiting for us to show up and do the obvious.”  [1]
